Young Jeezy is a Grammy nominated American rapper. He is the founder of CTE World and the head of the hip-hop group USDA (United Street Dopeboyz). His recordings include Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005), The Inspiration (2006) and The Recession (2008). Jeezy was born Jay Wayne Jenkins on September 28, 1977 in Columbia, South Carolina. His parents separated when he was a child. He has a younger sister named Katrina Wright. Jeezy grew up in Macon, Georgia. He had several conflicts with the law as a teenager. At one point, he spent several months in boot camp because he possessed drugs.

Jeezy founded independent record label CTE World (Corporate Thugz Entertainment) in 1998. He signed distribution deals with Def Jam South and Island Def Jam in 2005. Past and present CTE artists include Slick Pulla, Lil Durk, YG and Freddie Gibbs. Jeezy’s debut studio album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, was released in July 2005. It peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and number one on the rap album chart. The platinum-certified album is led by Mannie Fresh’s “And Then What” and Akon’s “Soul Survivor.” Jeezy’s second album, The Inspiration, was released in December 2006. Jeezy formed the rap group USDA (United Street Dopeboyz of America) in 2005. Before that, he was a member of the Southern gangster rap group Boyz n da Hood. The original members of the USDA were Jeezy, Slick Pulla, and Blood Raw. Rappers Boo Rossini and 2Eleven later joined the band. USDA’s debut album Cold Summer was released in May 2007 by Corporate Thugz and Def Jam. The album’s lead single “White Girl” peaked at number 57 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was made by Drumma Boy.
Young Jeezy’s third solo album, The Recession, was released in September 2008. It was produced by DJ Toomp, Midnight Black, Don Cannon, The Inkredibles and a few others. It features guest singers from Kanye West, Trey Songz, Anthony Hamilton, Nas and Lil Boosie. His other albums include TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition (2011), Church in These Streets (2015), Trap or Die 3 (2016) and Snow Season (2017). Jeezy has a total of 4 Grammy nominations. In 2010, he won a BET Award with Rihanna for the single “Hard”. In 2013, he collaborated with 2 Chainz on the Billboard Hot 100 single “RIP”.
