Woody Harrison is an American actor, playwright and activist with a net worth of US$70 million as of 2021. He is best known for playing Woody Boyd’s Emmy Award-winning role in NBC’s “Cheers”, but he has also appeared in dozens of movies. early life
Woody Harrison, formerly known as Woodrow Tracy Harrison, was born on July 23, 1961 in Midland, Texas. His mother Diane is a secretary, and his father Charles is a killer. They divorced in 1964, and Charles was convicted of assassinating federal judge John H. Wood Jr. in 1979 after five years in prison for murdering a grain dealer. He was sentenced to two life sentences and died of a heart attack in 2007. Woody grew up with his two siblings, Jordan and Brett. He said that the family is very poor, but there is always food on the table. In 1973, they moved to Diane’s hometown, Lebanon, Ohio, and Harrison graduated from Lebanon High School in 1979. In the summer after graduation, he worked at Kings Island Amusement Park, and then moved to Hanover, Indiana, to attend Hanover College (this was a Presbyterian college at the time). As a college student, Woody joined the Sigma Chi Brotherhood and received a bachelor’s degree in drama and English literature in 1983.
TV career
Harrison made his television debut when he joined the cast of “Cheers” in the fourth season of the show. From 1985 to 1993, he starred in 200 episodes and was nominated for 5 Primetime Emmy Awards in 1989. His character Woody Boyd (Woody Boyd) also appeared in “The Simpsons” in 1994 and “Frazer” in 1999. Harrison played Grace’s boyfriend in 7 episodes in “Will and Grace” in 2001 and in HBO’s “True Detective” in 2014. He also starred in Bill Starbucks in “The Rainmaker” at the Brooks Atkinson Theater from 1999 to 2000, and as Shannon in “Night of the Iguanas” at the Lyric Theater from 2005 to 2006 . Woody wrote the play “Farthest From the Sun”, which he directed at the Crescent Theatre in Minneapolis in 1999. Woody married Nancy Simon (daughter of playwright Neil Simon) while visiting Tijuana in 1985. The couple was not serious about getting married and planned to cancel the union the next day; however, the marriage/divorce house was closed and they maintained their marriage for 10 months. Harrison married Laura Louis at his home on Maui in 2008. They have 3 daughters: Denis (born in February 1993), Zoe (born in September 1996) and Makani (born June 2006). Born in the month). Harrison has been arrested multiple times: in 1982 for misconduct and resisting arrest, symbolically planting cannabis seeds in 1996 (the sheriff considered this to be “marijuana planting”), and in 2002, vandalizing taxis and escaping from the police. He did not go to jail for any of these arrests. In 2008, a TMZ photographer filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against Woody, accusing the actor of assaulting him and breaking his camera; after they reached a settlement in 2010, the case was dismissed.

Harrison’s role in “Cheers” won him the Most Interesting Newcomer Award in the 1987 American Comedy Awards and the 1989 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
