Born on November 18, 1944 in Potsdam, Germany, he studied advertising psychology at Brunswick University and started working in the fashion industry in 1968.
He is known for his work as a fashion illustrator, journalist and designer in several European countries (Italy, France, Germany and the UK). He created his own company JOOP! In 1981, as a brand known for its glamorous collections and award-winning fragrances. But after success in fragrances and apparel, Joop! expanded its range by adding shoes, eyewear and jewelry. In 1998, Joop sold 95% of the company to Wünsche AG and got rid of the remaining 5% in a subsequent 2001 deal. He founded WUNDERKIND in 2003. The company is recognized as a high-end fashion brand. After several years of stagnation, WUNDERKIND was relaunched in 2012 with a new managing director. Joop won the Fil d’or in 1983 and he also won the Golden Spinning Wheel.
