Willie Hugh Nelson (Willie Hugh Nelson) is an American country singer, songwriter, actor, and animal rights activist. He was born in Abbott, Texas during the Great Depression on April 29, 1933. Nelson and his sister Bobby were raised by their grandparents William and Nancy. Nelson began singing in the local church when he was very young. He received his first guitar at the age of six, and at the age of seven he began to compose his own songs. He attended Abbott High School and briefly studied agriculture at Baylor University.

Nielsen first ventured into the music industry in 1956, and has since released 68 studio albums, 37 compilations and more than 2,000 songs. He has won multiple Grammy Awards, American Music Awards and Country Music Awards. Nelson’s first album, And Then I Wrote, was released by Liberty Records in 1962. The 1967 album Make Way for Willie Nelson was released by RCA Victor and ranked 7th on the American Country Rankings.
Nelson’s first platinum-certified album was “Red Headed Stranger” released by Columbia Records in 1975. His most commercially successful album “Stardust” was released in 1978. This album ranked first on the Billboard’s top country rankings and was certified by RIAA as 7 times platinum. In 1979, the single “Georgia on My Mind” won the Grammy Award for Best Country Male Performance. Other albums include Honeysuckle Rose (1980), Super Hits (1994) and the live album Willie and Family Live (1978).
