About eight years later, he made his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals on May 10, 1982. McGee played for the St. Louis team for nearly a decade before becoming a member of the Oakland Athletics in 1990. He later played for his hometown San Francisco Giants from 1991 to 1994, the Boston Red Sox in 1995, and a second time with the Cardinals from 1996 to 1999. A right-handed outfielder, McGee was a four-time MLB All-Star, winner of three Golden Gloves (1983, 1985, 1986) and a Silver Bar in 1985. He was a two-time National League batting champion and won a World Series title with the Cardinals in 1982. McKee was named the National League’s Most Valuable Player in 1985.
