William Heinecke Net Worth: William Heinecke is an American-born Thai businessman who has a net worth of $425 million. William Heineke was born in the United States in 1949. He is CEO and Chairman of Minor Corporation, CEO and Chairman of Minor International and Chairman of Minor Food Group.
His father served in the U.S. military for 25 years, fought through two wars, and later joined the foreign service. His mother worked as an Asia correspondent for Time magazine. In 1991, Heineke became a Thai citizen. Heinecke went to Thailand as a child in 1963, and then, at the age of 17 as a high school student, took over the position of World Advertising Manager in Bangkok. With $1,200 he borrowed, he started Inter-Asian Enterprise, an office cleaning service, and Inter-Asian Publicity, a broadcast advertising agency. He later sold Inter-Asia Publicity to Ogilvy & Mather. In 1967, he founded Minor Holdings, which over the next 40 years would grow into The Minor Group with more than 30 companies. Heinecke entered his first hotel business in 1978, the Royal Garden Resort Pattaya. His other business ventures include advertising agencies and other hotels in Bangkok; Hua Hin, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and outside of Thailand. He also introduced American fast food to Thailand in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, and introduced American brands such as Mister Donut, The Pizza Company and Burger King throughout the 1980s. In 1991, Heinecke became a naturalized Thai citizen and renounced his U.S. citizenship. He has served as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand and as a member of the Prime Minister’s Foreign Investment Advisory Council. He is a supporter of the Thai Elephant Conservation Center and author of The Entrepreneur, which has been translated into many languages. He now operates more than 1,000 restaurants as well as upscale hotels and resorts.
In 2013, William Heinecke received the ABLF Trailblazer Award at the Asia Business Leaders Forum (ABLF) Awards Ceremony in Dubai, UAE managed by Indian Expressions.
