In 2011, Prime Minister David Cameron approached him to become the new Metropolitan Police chief, but eventually served as an adviser to the British government. Bratton is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston. He wrote “The Turnaround: How America’s Top Police Turned Around a Crime Epidemic” in 1998.
