Will Ferrell (Will Ferrell) is known for his many comedy films and his years as a sketch comedy artist on Saturday Night Live. early life
John William (Will) Ferrell was born on July 16, 1967 in Irvine, California, to Betty Kay (teacher) and Roy Lee Ferrell Jr. (keyboard player of The Righteous Brothers). Will’s parents divorced when he was 8 years old, mainly because his father was often on business trips and sometimes could not get a stable salary. This allowed Will to withdraw from the showbiz. He grew up with the goal of having a stable job and a normal life. He went to Culverdale Elementary School and later attended college high school, where he was a kicker for the school’s football team. He is also the captain of the basketball team and has participated in football matches. He claims that growing up in a “dull” California suburb helped his creative sense of humor.
Ferrer became interested in acting in high school, and he and his friends created comedy sounds for the school’s daily morning announcement. He will perform comedy sketches in the school’s talent show, and was rated as the most senior “best personality” among his classmates.
Ferrer studied at the University of Southern California, where he studied sports broadcasting and received a degree in sports information. An SNL producer saw The Groundlings and asked Ferrell (and future SNL players/Groundlings members Chris Kattan and Cheri Oteri) to audition for the main producer of SNL, Lorne Michaels. Ferrer has starred in several movies during his Saturday Night Live career, including The Power of Austin: International Mystery Man, Superstars and Ladies (based on SNL characters), Dick, Drowning Mona and Zoolander, etc. After he left SNL, his first starring role was in the 2003 Old School as Frank “The Tank” Richard. This role was well received by the critics, and the film was a huge commercial success. Ferrer was nominated for the Best Comedy Performance at the MTV Movie Awards for his role as Frank. Later that year, he played the leading role in “Elves” and continued to play major roles in films such as “Anchor: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” and “Starry Sky and Hatch”. Ferrer has participated in the Boston and New York marathons. He raises funds for charity scholarships for cancer survivors.
