Joe complained of frequent headaches, which prompted him to retire before suffering serious, irreversible injuries. Later, he studied at the University of Massachusetts Boston campus. Although he thought it was meaningless, Joe dropped out of school, stayed in Boston for a few years, and then moved to New York.
During his stay in Boston, Joe made a living by doing various jobs, including a position as a bodyguard in a local nightclub. His martial arts would surely persuade customers to abide by discipline.
