Wendy Williams is an American TV personality, famous for hosting the Wendy Williams show. She is also an actress, fashion designer, writer and former radio DJ. Williams was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey on July 18, 1964 to Thomas and Shirley. She has two siblings, Thomas Jr. and Wanda. Williams grew up in Oceantown, New Jersey, where she attended Oceantown High School. She played the clarinet and participated in swimming team competitions in high school. Williams graduated from Northeastern University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. She minored in journalism.

Williams started out as a radio DJ for the Boston University radio station WRBB. After graduating from university, she worked at “WVIS” in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. From 1989 to 1994, Williams was the disc jockey of the New York City Modern Radio “WRKS”. She won the Billboard Best Radio Character Award in 1993. Williams worked for “WUSL” in Philadelphia for three years, then moved back to New York in 2001 to look for job opportunities at WBLS. She was inducted into the National Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2009.
Williams is probably best known for creating and hosting the Wendy Williams Show, which premiered on July 14, 2008. The show is broadcast on Fox, CW, and MyNetworkTV, attracting more than 2 million viewers every day. The Wendy Williams Show was nominated for four Daytime Emmy Awards from 2015 to 2016. As of 2016, the show has been renewed to the 2019-20 season.
Williams was a contestant of ABC Dance with the Stars in 2011. She played the supporting role “Gail” in the romantic comedy “Think Like a Man” (2012). This film is adapted from the book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” (Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man) published by Steve Harvey in 2009. Williams’ TV works include Martin, One Life to Live, Love Triangle and Drop Dead Diva. She co-produced the film “Aaliyah: R&B Princess” (2014) and co-wrote the documentary “Death By Gossip” (2015) with Wendy Williams.
