Warwick Dunn was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1975 and played college football at Florida State University. The 5-foot-9, 187-pound running back is a three-time All-ACC honoree and a second-team All-American in 1996.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Dunn with the 12th pick in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 1997 and won three Pro Bowls in 1997, 2000 and 2005. Dunn received the Ed Block Courage Award in 1998 and the Walter Payton Person of the Year Award in 2004. He was recognized as Bart Starr Person of the Year in 2008 and joined the 10,000 Rushing Yards club. Dunn played for the Atlanta Falcons from 2002 to 2007 and returned to the Buccaneers in 2008. He finished his career with 10,967 yards and 49 rushing touchdowns, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Dunn organized the Warrick Dunn Charity and Holiday Homes to work with single-parent families trying to buy a home. He later partnered with several athletes, including Muhammad Ali, Mia Hamm, Carl Ripken Jr. and Lance Armstrong, to create Athletes of Hope. In 2008, he wrote his autobiography “Running for My Life”.
