Warwick Ashley Davis was born on February 3, 1970 in Epson, Surrey, England. Davis was born with congenital spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, considered a rare form of dwarfism. This disorder is different from “normal” dwarfism. At age 11, Warwick’s grandmother overheard a radio ad calling for people under four feet tall. The audition was for “Return of the Jedi.”

Warwick was already a big Star Wars fan when he auditioned for “Return of the Jedi.” Originally as an extra Ewok actor, Davis felt it was a dream come true to be part of the sci-fi series he loved so much. However, Warwick was given a bigger role in the film as he was chosen as the new “wicket”. This particular Ewok is the one that Leia and Luke interact with in several scenes in Return of the Jedi.
Davis got the opportunity because the actor who was supposed to star in “The Ticket” fell ill during filming. Speaking of how natural Davis is in his Ewok outfit, George Lucas handpicked him as the new “wicket.” This would prove to be the catalyst for Warwick’s acting career. Warwick owns a number of properties, mostly located in England. He was at one point “ejected” from his London home after being pestered by fans who knew his address. Another issue concerns his Peterborough home. After moving from London to this more secluded area in 2013, he dealt with another problem for local residents after his caravan was stolen. This prompted him to build a 6-foot wall around his property to deter would-be thieves.
Unfortunately, he needed permission from Parliament before building the wall. Locals have criticized the plan, calling it “too harsh” and inconsistent with the buildings in the surrounding area. Because of this, Warwick was forced to revise his plans and create a welded mesh fence combining a hedge and gate. These minor plans are approved.
He originally bought his Peterborough property, which included what was then a three-bedroom home, for £455,000. Soon Davis was tearing down the house and building a more spacious seven-bedroom home that included a theater, recording studio and an elevator. The home is reported to be worth £7 million.
