Walter Matthew Net Worth: Walter Matthews is an American actor who has a net worth of $10 million. Walter Matthau was born in New York City in October 1920. He briefly worked as a licensed cashier in the Yiddish Theater District. During World War II, Matthew served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
During his career, he has over 100 acting credits. His first television roles were in the 1950 Big Story series and the Lux Video Theatre from 1950 to 1952. As a stage actor, he starred in “Guys and Dolls” in 1955, and with “Feelings! 1958. In 1961 he won a Tony Award for “A Shot in the Dark” and again in 1965. His first film roles were in 1966’s Kentucky Man and Indian Fighter. Matthew also starred in the films he directed, Gangster Tale, and Fortune Cookie, which won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor. In 1968 he received another Golden Globe nomination for “The Strange Couple” and the same year he won a BAFTA for “The Secret Life of an American Wife.” He was also nominated for a BAFTA for Hello Dolly! Kotch won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He won a BAFTA award and earned a Golden Globe nomination for Pete ‘n’ Tillie and another BAFTA award for Charley Varrick. Matthew received another Golden Globe nomination for “Front Page” and a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for “Sunshine Boys.” He was nominated for a BAFTA Award for the role and The Bad News Bears. He was nominated again for the Hopscotch and First Monday Golden Globes in October.
In 1982, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 3657 Hollywood Boulevard. Walter Matthews died of a heart attack on July 1, 2000 at the age of 79.
