Vanna White is an American actress and television personality best known for co-hosting Wheel of Fortune. She also has a line of yarns called Vanna’s Choice. White was born Vanna Marie Rosic on February 18, 1957, in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was raised by her mother “Joan” and her stepfather “Miguel”. She is the alma mater of North Myrtle Beach High School.
Profession
After high school, White moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She studied at the Atlanta Institute of Fashion and briefly modeled. White then moved to Hollywood, where she landed small roles in films such as Gypsy Angel (1980) and Graduation Day (1981). In 1980, her first game show appearance was in the episode “The Price Is Right”. In 1982, White was selected from a pool of 200 applicants as Susan Stafford’s replacement on the Wheel of Fortune. She worked with Pat Sajak for several years as hostess, chief letter-turner and model. In April 2014, she celebrated her 6,000th episode.
White’s autobiography, “Wanna Talk! was released in 1987 and was a commercial success. A year later, she played “Zeus” in the NBC TV movie “The Goddess of Love.” She has since appeared on shows like LA Law, Simon and Simon and The King of Queens. In 1992, White was named the “Most Hitman on Television” by Guinness World Records. Her star was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 20, 2006.
