During his Olympic career, Usain won eight gold medals. He holds several world records, including the 100 meters (9.58 seconds) and the 200 meters (19.19).
early life
Usain St. Leo Bolt was born on August 21, 1986 to Wellesley and Jennifer parents. He was born in Sherwood, a small town in Trelawney Parish, Jamaica. He has two siblings, the Sadiki brothers and the Shailene sisters, with whom he would play cricket and football on the streets as a child. His parents ran a local grocery store in a rural town. Usain attended Waldensia Elementary School and by the age of twelve he was the fastest runner in the school. When he first attended William Knib Memorial High School, he focused on other sports, but the cricket coach noticed how fast he was running and encouraged him to try track and field. Dwayne Jarrett and former Olympic sprinter Pablo McNeil coached Bolt throughout high school, and Bolt began winning medals in high school championships.
early game
In 2001, Bolt made his world stage debut at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Hungary. He didn’t make it to the final, but he set a new personal best of 21.73 seconds in the 200m. Bolt went on to compete in CARIFTA, setting championship records in the 200m and 400m. He competed in the Central American and Caribbean Youth Championships, where he went on to set records and personal bests. Usain is one of only nine athletes to win a world championship in junior, junior and senior events. For his performance, the Prime Minister of Jamaica arranged for Bolt to move to Kingston and begin training with the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association.
Rise to fame
At the age of 15, Bolt became the youngest ever world junior gold medalist by winning the 200m at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Kingston, Jamaica. He also participated in the Jamaican sprint relay team and won two silver medals. He went on to win four gold medals at the 2003 CARIFTA Games and another gold medal and another world record at the 2003 World Junior Championships. Bolt, his senior in high school, broke his own record at the last Jamaican high school tournament. By then, Usain had become increasingly well-known and popular in his hometown and throughout Jamaica. Bolt continued to compete and break records, but then decided to turn his attention to securing a spot on Jamaica’s Olympic team.

Olympic Games
With the help of his new coach, Fitz Coleman, Bolt became a professional runner in 2004 and began his new career at the CARIFTA Games in Bermuda, where he went on to break records and Was awarded the Austin Seeley Trophy in recognition of the game’s most outstanding athlete. Bolt was named to the Jamaica Olympic team in May 2004 despite a hamstring injury. Bolt was in Athens for his first Olympics, but a hamstring injury plagued him again and he was eliminated in the first round of the 200m. American universities began offering Bolt scholarships to train in the United States while continuing to represent his home country, but Bolt declined out of loyalty to Jamaica. He continues to study, train and compete at the Jamaica University of Technology. Bolt continued to compete, win medals and set records until his next Olympics.
Usain Bolt won three gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. After the Beijing Olympics, he won five gold medals and two silver medals at the World Championships. Amazingly, Usain Bolt’s net worth continues to explode thanks to his performance at the 2012 London Olympics. He defended his title in Beijing and broke his own Olympic record by winning the 100m gold medal in an astonishing 9.63 seconds. By then, Bolt was already considered by many around the world to be the greatest sprinter of all time. He won the gold medal in London just hours before Jamaica celebrated its 50th anniversary of independence from Britain. Bolt became popular during the London Olympics for his dramatic and often humorous demeanor on the finish line. He created the “Lightning” pose, which involves extending the raised left arm to the side and the right arm crossed over the chest, and it quickly became popular around the world (even President Obama was involved in the pose).
He won gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay at London 2012 and Rio 2016. Bolt withdrew from the competition in 2017 after his performance at the World Championships declined. Bolt has often discussed wanting to pursue a career in football after retiring, and even received some serious offers from major clubs around the world, but announced in January 2019 that he would be quitting the sport entirely.
personal life
Industry insiders describe Bolt’s personality as relaxed, laid-back and playful. The eight-time gold medalist announced in January 2020 that he was expecting his first child with girlfriend Kasi Bennett. They have been together since 2016. Bolt is a fan of reggae music and the Call of Duty video game series. He started as a dancehall producer in July 2019. He revealed that he suffered from scoliosis as a child.
Endorsements and other income
Usain Bolt is one of the highest paid athletes in the world. He typically earns about $20 million a year, much of it from endorsements. Usain has endorsement deals with brands such as Gatorade, Nissan, Visa, Hublot, Virgin Media and Puma. Of the $20 million in revenue, Puma alone has $9 million for him to wear their brand of shoes. Bolt also makes money from appearance fees and bonuses. He charges $250-300,000 for track and field appearances. At the 2010 Pennsylvania Relay, nearly 55,000 fans came to watch Usain run, breaking previous track attendance records. Usain Bolt made $31 million between June 2017 and June 2018. Only $1 million of his income comes from on-track earnings. The rest comes from endorsements.
car collection
Perhaps unsurprisingly for those who like to drive fast, Usain has a very impressive collection of cars. He owns multiple Ferraris, including an F430, 458 and California. He owns a BMW M3 and previously owned a total of one BMW in 2009. He owns a highly customized Jeep Wrangler, an Audi SUV, several Nissan GT-Rs and a Chevrolet Camaro.
Bolt Mobility

In May 2019, Bolt unveiled a two-seater electric car called the B-Nano, which will eventually start at just $999. In March 2020, the company raised $30 million in venture capital funding.
