Tyronn Lue is a retired NBA basketball player and former head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s 6-foot-0 and plays point guard. He was born on May 3, 1977 in Mexico, Missouri. He attended Leighton High School, followed by the University of Nebraska. He played three seasons with the Nebraska Cornhusks and led the team in assists.

Lue was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 23rd overall pick in the 1998 NBA draft. He was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers before the season began. He got off to a slow start with the Lakers but showed significant improvement in the 2001 playoffs. He won back-to-back championships with the Lakers before signing with the Washington Wizards in 2001. He has played for several other teams, including the Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks.

Lue first coached in 2009 as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics. In 2009, he was named Director of Basketball Development. He later served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers. In January 2016, he became the head coach of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers midseason. This happened immediately after David Blatt was fired. Lue and the Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA championship with a 93-89 victory over the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers became the first team in game history to fall 1-3 in the Finals. On October 28, 2018, the Cavaliers fired Lue after a 0-6 start to the 2018-19 season.
