Troye Sivan is a South African-born Australian actor, singer and YouTube star. His recordings include Blue Neighborhood (2015), TRXYE (2014) and Wild (2015). He has starred in films such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and Spud (2010). Troye Sivan Mellet was born on June 5, 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa. His father Sean was a real estate agent and his mother Laurel was a housewife. He has three siblings, Steele, Thatch and Ted. When he was about 2 years old, the family moved to Australia. Sivan attended Carmel School in Perth. He switched to distance education in 2009.

Sivan has been performing and singing since childhood. From 2006 to 2008 he was the opening show for Channel Seven’s Perth TV show. He participated in the 2007 Star Search and reached the finals. He joined YouTube in 2007 and released his first video “Tell Me Why” on November 14th. The channel now has 4+ million subscribers and 250+ million video views. Sivan’s first two EPs, Dare to Dream (2007) and June Haverly (2012), were released independently. His third EP, TRXYE, was released by EMI Music Australia in August 2014 and sold 73,000 copies in the US, led by the single “Happy Little Pill”. Episode 4, Wild, was released in September 2015. It features Australian singer Tkay Maidza and musical duo Broods.

Sivan’s debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood was released in December 2015 by EMI and Capitol Records. It produced 4 singles “Wild”, “Youth”, “Talk Me Down” and “Heaven”. The single “Wild” was certified Gold in the US and Platinum in Australia. A remix of Alessia Cara was released in June 2016. The album was supported by 2016’s Blue Neighborhood Tour and Suburbia Tour. Sivan collaborated with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix on the 2017 single “There for You”.

Sivan played “young James Howlett” in the superhero film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). It is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Hugh Jackman. His next big role was as John “Spud” Milton in Spud (2009), opposite John Cleese. The role was reprised in Spud 2: The Madness Continues (2013) and Spud 3: Learning to Fly (2014). His upcoming projects include the adult drama Boy Erased (2018). Sivan’s theatrical credits include Oliver! and Waiting for Godot. He has been a musical guest on shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show and James Corden’s The Late Late Show.
