Troy Gentry is an American country singer and guitarist. He was half of the popular country duo “Montgomery Gentlemen” next to Eddie Montgomery. They are known for albums such as Tattoos and Scars (1999), You Do Your Thing (2004) and Running Rebels (2011). Troy Lee Gentry was born on April 5, 1967 in Lexington, Kentucky. His parents are Lloyd and Pat. He has two siblings, Jane and Keith. Gentry is a graduate of Lexington Community College. He also attended the University of Kentucky, majoring in Marketing and Business Administration.

Kentucky singers Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery formed the country music duo “Montgomery Gentry” in 1999. Before that, they both performed as part of two different bands. Montgomery Gentry has released 7 studio albums, 3 compilations and more than 20 singles. Their debut studio album, Tattoos and Scars, was released by Columbia Records in April 1999. The album peaked at number 10 on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA. It was led by the singles “Hillbilly Shoes”, “Lonely and Gone” and “Daddy Won’t Sell the Farm”. Their second album Carrying On was released in May 2001. It achieved gold status and produced two singles, “She Can’t Change Me” and “Cold One Comin’ On”. Montgomery Gentry has released 4 albums for Columbia Records, My Town (2002), You Do Your Thing (2004), Some People Change (2006) and Back When I Knew It All (2008). The duo’s seventh album, Running Rebels, was released in October 2011 through Average Joe’s Entertainment.
The Montgomery Gentleman released multiple singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Their #1 hits included “If You Ever Stop Love Me”, “Something to Be Proud Of”, “Lucky Man” and “Roll with Me”. They also collaborated with musicians such as Charlie Daniels, Five for Fighting and Toby Keith. The Gentleman and Montgomery were named “Duet of the Year” by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association in 2000. They were selected for the Grand Ole Opry in 2009.

Troy Gentry passed away on September 8, 2017 at the age of 50. He was killed in a helicopter crash in Medford, New Jersey. The tragedy happened hours before he was due to perform. The pilot also died in the crash. Gentry was married to “Angie McClure” from December 1999 until his death. They have a daughter named Kelly. He has a second daughter, Taylor, from his marriage to Kia Bradley. The gentleman is about 6 feet 2 inches tall and has an estimated net worth of $10 million.
