Born in New Ulm, Minnesota, in 1962, Terry Steinbach played college baseball with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and was honored as Co-op Player of the Year in the Big Ten.
Steinbach later made his Major League Baseball debut on September 12, 1986, with the Oakland Athletics. He spent the next decade with the A’s until joining the Minnesota Twins from 1997 to 1999. Steinbach’s last appearance with the Twins was on October 1, 1999. He finished his career with a .271 batting average. Steinbach hit 162 home runs and teeed more than 740 times. He was a three-time MLB All-Star (1988, 1989, 1993) and won the World Series as a member of the A’s in 1989. Steinbach was named the MVP of the 1988 MLB All-Star Game.
