Trevor Noah is a South African-born stand-up comedian, TV presenter and actor. He is the current host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” Noah was “born with sin” on February 20, 1984 in Johannesburg, South Africa. His mother, Patricia, was a black Xhosa woman, and his father, Robert, was a white Swiss-German. Under apartheid, the union of his interracial parents was illegal at the time. Noah was raised by his mother and grandmother. He attended Maryville College in Johannesburg.

Noah cited his influences on comedy such as Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and Dave Chappell. His first television appearance was on the 2002 soap opera Isidingo. He was 18 at the time. He later worked as a radio DJ. His early TV credits include Run The Adventure, The Real Goboza and Siyadlala. Noah hosted The Amazing Date for 13 episodes in 2008. His stand-up special “The Daywalker” was released in 2009.

Noah hosted the third South African Film and Television Awards in 2009. The following year he debuted his own talk show “Trevor Noah Tonight.” The show ran 26 episodes from 2010 to 2011. Noah had a supporting role in “Bookie” in the comedy film “Crazy Companions” (2012). In 2013, he followed up on the stand-up specials “African American” and “This Is My Culture.”

Noah made his US TV debut in January 2012 on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In May 2013, he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman. Noah became a correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2014. He started as the new host, executive producer and writer of The Daily Show in September 2015. Noah was nominated for 3 NAACP Image Awards in 2016, including one for Outstanding Host. He has attracted many guests on the show, from comedian Kevin Hart to political commentator Tommy La Herron.
