Tony Phillips is a former professional baseball player. He’s 5-foot-10 and played 18 years in Major League Baseball. He was born Keith Anthony Phillips on April 25, 1959, in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Roswell High School, where he played for the Hornets.
Profession
Phillips made his debut with the Oakland Athletics in 1982. He made his first 5-for-5 against the Orioles in 1986. He went on to beat the San Francisco Giants in the 1989 World Series. Phillips joined the Detroit Tigers later that year. In 1993, he led the American League with 132 walks and went on to be the 16th most valuable player in MLB. He was traded to the California Angels in 1995. Phillips played for seven different teams before retiring from MLB in 1999. He briefly played for the Yuma Scorpions in the Independent League and later for the Pittsburgh Courage.

Tony Phillips was arrested in 1997 on cocaine-related charges. The charges were dismissed in 1999 after he successfully completed counselling and remained in abstinence. Phillips died on February 19, 2016 at the age of 56. According to reports, the cause of his death was a heart attack. He is married to “Debbie Phillips” and they have two children.
