Tones and I is an Australian pop singer and songwriter. Her first two singles “Johnny Run Away” and “Dance Monkey” were released in early 2019. Tones was born on August 15, 1993 in Victoria, Australia, his original name is Toni Watson. She grew up in Mount Martha, a coastal suburb of Melbourne. In addition to vocal music, Watson is also an instrumentalist. She learned keyboard and drums in high school. She also played basketball when she was a child. Most notably, this song has topped the ARIA singles chart for more than 20 consecutive weeks. It rose to No. 9 on the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart in the United States and reached No. 1 in the UK. Dance Monkey has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide. The music video attracted more than 3.75 million views in less than 6 months. Tones won 3 awards at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards, including Best Female Artist and Best Pop Song Release. On November 18, 2019, she and Jimmy Fallon had an outstanding performance on The Tonight Show.
The first EP of The Kids Are Coming, Tones and I was released by Bad Batch and Sony Music Australia in August 2019. It is exclusively produced by Konstantin Kersting. The EP is led by the lead single “The Kids Are Coming” and the aforementioned “Johnny Run Away” and “Dance Monkey”. The track list also includes “Never Seen the Rain”, “Colourblind” and “Jimmy”. The project ranked third on the Australian album chart. It won the best independent release award at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards.
