Born Thomas Cunningham Thayer on November 7, 1960 in Portland, Oregon, Thayer’s passion for music, especially hard rock in the early 1970s, led him to learn electric guitar at the age of 13. After working with a handful of local bands, he decided to form a band of his own in 1981, Black ‘n Blue. Since its inception, the band has released 10 studio albums and gained worldwide acclaim, collaborating with famous musicians along the way. However, Tommy Thayer started working with Kiss’s Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, especially after they asked him to do a part-time job for their upcoming book, Kisstor, in 1994. This led to other projects in the near future, culminating in Thayer getting a full-time role as Kiss with whom he produced 8 studio albums. An active supporter of community causes, Thayer serves on the board of directors of Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. He currently lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Amber.
