Tom Cruise is an American actor, producer and Scientologist. He is a three-time Golden Globe winner and nominated for three Academy Awards. Cruise was born on July 3, 1962 in Syracuse, New York. His mother Mary was a teacher and his father Thomas was an electrical engineer. He has three siblings, Anne Lee, Marianne and Cass. Cruise attended Glenridge High School. He originally wanted to be a professional wrestler and at one point wanted to be a priest. He eventually moved to New York to pursue acting.

Cruise made her debut in the 1981 romantic drama “Endless Love.” Other early film credits include Taps (1981) and The Outsiders (1983). His first starring role was as “Joel Goodson” in the 1983 romantic comedy “A Risky Business.” Cruise starred alongside Kelly McGillis in the 1986 action film Top Gun. The film was a commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing film of 1986. He went on to have major roles in Paul Newman’s The Color of Money (1986), Dustin Hoffman’s Rain Man (1988) and A Few Good Men (1992) with Jack Nicholson.
Cruise plays “Ethan Hunt” in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. The first of the film was released in 1996, and the latest “Rogue Nation” was released in 2015. A sixth Mission: Impossible movie is in the works and is expected to be released in 2021. Cruise won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for “Mission: Impossible.” The movie “Jerry Maguire (1996)”.
