It was then that he signed with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. His substance abuse got worse and he decided not to stay with the BC Lions. In 2000, he signed with the AFL to play for the Los Angeles Avengers, but it would be the last team of his career. By 2001, he was suspended from the team for unacceptable behavior. Since then, he has been in and out of prison, as well as recovering, and has been arrested several times for possession and use of illegal substances. In 2008, after a year of keeping it clean, Marinovic began lecturing at Newport Coast Recovery, a drug and alcohol treatment center. Marinovic was born in San Leandro, California in 1969.
