Three 6 Mafia, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, started out as an exploitative, horror-themed underground hardcore rap craze (known as 666 Mafia in its early years) and experienced relatively mainstream success a few years later, eventually even winning Oscar and won several major hits.
The group’s members vary from album to album, one constant is the duo of Juicy J and DJ Paul. Other notable mafia members include Crunchy Black, Gangsta Boo, Lord Infamous, Koopsta Knicca, La’ Chat, Project Pat, Killa Klan Kaze and Indo G. On December 21, 2013, founding team member Notorious Lord died of a heart attack in his sleep at his mother’s home in Memphis, Tennessee. Gangsta Boo left the group in May 2014. The reunited album Watch What U Wish was released in 2014. In October 2015, Koopsta Knicca also died of a stroke. He is 40, the same age as the infamous Lord, another member of the Three Six Mafia who died in 2013.
