Terrence Dashon Howard is an American actor and singer. He is known for films such as Hustle & Flow and the Empire series. Howard was born to parents Tyrone and Anita on March 11, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to New York City to pursue acting. Howard studied chemical engineering at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Although he never graduated, he still considers himself an engineer.

Henson and Gabourey Sidibe.
In addition to performing, Howard is also known for his 2008 debut studio album, Shine Through It. Released by Columbia Records, the album is a fusion of R&B, soul and pop. It reached No. 31 on the Billboard 200 and No. 6 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
