Sylvester Stallone is an American actor, screenwriter, producer and director with a net worth of $400 million. As of this writing, Stallone’s films have generated more than $4 billion worldwide. Unlike most Hollywood stars, Sylvester has written, produced and/or directed many of his major franchise films.

After writing the script for “Rocky” in just three days, Stallone found interest in his project at multiple studios. Sylvester Stallone was born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone on July 6, 1946, in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. He is the eldest son of Italian-born barber Francisco “Frank” Stallone and astrologer and dancer Jackie Stallone. He has a younger brother, Frank Stallone, who is an actor and musician. Complications during childbirth left Sylvester paralyzed on the lower left side of his face, making him look like his now-iconic “snarl” and speak a bit slurred. Stallone spent some of his early years in foster care because of his parents’ unstable relationship. The couple later divorced. Before attending the University of Miami, Stallone studied drama at the American Academy in Switzerland. He left school before finishing his degree and moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.

Stallone’s first starring role was in “The Katie Party,” a softcore movie where he explained that he was desperate after being kicked out of his apartment. He was paid $200 for two days of work.
