Stevie J is an American music producer, singer, songwriter and television personality. He has produced for artists such as The Notorious BIG, Jay Z and Mariah Carey. His TV credits include Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and Stevie J & Joseline: Go Hollywood. Stevie J was born Steven Aaron Jordan on November 2, 1973 in Buffalo, New York. Stevie J played bass for the R&B quartet “Jodeci” in the early 1990s. He appeared on their third album, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel (1995). He also worked with the collective “Swing Mob” until they disbanded in 1995. Stevie J later joined Bad Boy Records. There, he worked as a producer and songwriter (Killer). His early work includes the single “Only You” from the R&B group 112’s self-titled debut album. He produced the single “Mo Money Mo Problems” on The Notorious BIG’s final album, Life After Death (1997). Stevie J won a Grammy for his contribution to Puff Daddy’s debut studio album No Way Out (1997). The project won the award for Best Rap Album.
In addition to Bad Boy Records, Stevie J has produced for artists such as Beyonce, Brian McKnight and Lil Kim. He was nominated for a Grammy for his work on Mariah Carey’s sixth album, Butterfly (1997). For that project, he produced tracks such as “Honey”, “Breakdown” and “Babydoll”. Stevie J co-wrote Eve’s 2001 hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind”. The song peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. He has also written songs for bands such as Boyz II Men and Tamia.
Stevie J made her television debut in 2012 on the reality series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. The show premiered on VH1 on June 18, 2012. He joined the main cast in 2015 starting with season 4. Stevie J hosted previews at the 2013 and 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards. He appeared in the VH1 spinoff series Stevie J and Jocelyn: Going to Hollywood (2016) and For Stevie (2016).
