Born in Cambridge, England in February 1953, Steve Paris became a professional racer at the age of 22 in 1976 and won the ACU Solo in the British Motorcycle Championship.
He was the 500cc ACU Gold Star Champion in 1987 and won the Shell 500 in 1979 and 1980, and the Superbike in 1981. Steve retired from motorcycle racing in 1986 to start racing trucks and managing three British Superbike Championships for the Yamaha factory team. He won the British Open Truck Racing Championship in 1987 and the European and British Truck Racing Championships in 1990. He retired in 2002 and became the most successful truck racer of all time. Parrish works as a commentator and analyst for ITV, covering their coverage of the Isle of Man TT. He has previously commented for BBC radio and television. He was called as an expert witness in a racing incident and achieved a reverse fasting speed of 85 miles per hour, a Guinness World Record. He co-authored Barry: The Story of Motorcycle Legend Barry Sheehan in 2008. Steve and his ex-wife Ruth have two children.
