Steve Dillon is a British Eisner Award-winning cartoonist. He is best known for co-creating the “Missionaries” comic book series. Other notable works include Hellblazer, The Punisher and 2000 AD. Dillon was born on 22 March 1962 in Luton, Bedfordshire. His younger brother “Green” also works in comics. Dillon attended Iknield High School in his hometown. He moved to the United States in the 1980s.

Dillon discovered his talent for drawing while attending Iknield High School. He contributed to the school’s 1975 comic book The Ultimate Science Fiction Adventure. Dillon got his big break by drawing the Hulk and Nick Fury tapes for Marvel UK. He was 16 at the time. He later created the character “Abslom Daak” for Doctor Who magazine. Other early contributions include “Warrior” and “2000 AD”. He has also created artwork for Skreemer, Animal Man and The Atom.
Dillon and Brett Ewins co-founded the comic magazine Deadline. The series features comics and articles aimed at older audiences. It was published from 1988 to 1995. Dillon created the comic book series Hellblazers (1988-2013) and Missionaries (1995-2000) with Garth Ennis. His work on Preacher earned him the 1999 Eisner Award. Preacher was picked up as a TV series by AMC. The series premiered on May 22, 2016. Dominic Cooper as “Jesse Custer,” Joe Gilgan as “Cassidy,” and Ruth Negga as “Tulip O’Hare.”
