He didn’t initially catch the attention of any college team, but after leading Midland College to their first junior college national championship, other colleges began to pay attention. He dominated the game during the game and got coverage in Sports Illustrated. He received a scholarship to North Carolina State University. From there, the Atlanta Hawks drafted him. He went on to play for the Hawks for six seasons. Then, in his four-year stint with the Sacramento Kings, he seemed to be hitting his stride.
