Simon Le Bon is an English musician who has a net worth of $65 million. Le Bon is of course best known as the lead singer and lyricist for the band Duran Duran. He later went on to play these roles in the band Arcadia, which features many former members of Duran Duran. During his career, Simon has won many honors and accolades for his achievements in the music industry. These include three Ivor Novello Awards.
early life
Simon John Charles Le Bon was born on October 27, 1958 in Bush, Hertfordshire, England. Simon grew up with three younger brothers, and with the encouragement of his mother, he pursued various artistic careers from an early age. At the age of six, he began auditioning for commercial roles. During this time, he trained as an actor while also joining a local church choir to improve his singing skills.
Le Bon attended the same grammar school Elton John had attended before he graduated from secondary school. After graduating, Simon attended Harrow School of Art, completing the course in 1978. Eventually, Le Bon entered the University of Birmingham to study drama. During this period, Simon worked as a theatre porter while appearing in various TV commercials and theatrical productions in London. He also started singing in punk bands.

After leaving the University of Birmingham, Simon Le Bon met childhood friends John Taylor and Nick Rhodes, who in 1978 formed a new band called Duran Duran. After several lineup changes, the band found a guitarist and drummer. However, they still need a lead singer as their former singer has given up on the band. Simon was introduced to Taylor and Rhodes by an ex-girlfriend, and he quickly became an integral part of the band. They then signed a recording contract with EMI and released their first self-titled album in 1981. The album became a central part of the Neo-Romantic movement, followed by albums such as “Rio” and “Seven and the Ragged Tiger”. Before the band’s hiatus, another live album, “Arena,” followed.
Le Bon and several other members went on to release albums like “Notorious” and “Big Thing” before finding their popularity crumbling. After a brief resurgence with his 1993 album The Wedding Album, Simon began to focus more on his new band Arcadia, which formed in 1986 with Duran Duran members like Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor. The group released several hits like “Election Day” and released a single album called “So Red The Rose”.
Simon Le Bon was also very active as a solo artist throughout his career, especially after Duran Duran’s popularity began to fade. In 1989, he contributed the song “Follow In My Footsteps” to the “Requiem for the Americas” project with Jonathan Elias. In 1998, Le Bon founded SYN Entertainment with his wife Yasmin and his friend Nick Wood. He serves as the company’s founder and chairman. A year later, SYN Entertainment formed SYN Records. The record label produced Duran Duran albums such as “Pop Garbage.”

While Le Pen was engaged to model and actress Claire Stansfield in the early ’80s, he ended the relationship and pursued fellow model Yasmin Parvaneh. He reportedly saw her face in a magazine and approached her by calling her modeling agency. They married in 1985, after which Yasmin suffered two miscarriages. However, Simon and Yasmin eventually welcomed three daughters. One of the girls, Amber Rose Tamara Le Bon, later became a model like her mother. Le Pen became a grandfather in 2018 when one of his daughters had children.

Simon Le Bon was embroiled in a major controversy when his yacht capsized off the south Cornwall coast in 1985. He races Fastnet on a mega yacht he calls “The Drum.” The yacht lost its keel before capsizing, trapping Le Bon and several crew members inside. Ultimately, all were rescued by a Royal Navy search and rescue team. One of the rescue divers received a medal for his role in Le Pen’s escape. These events were later described in a film called “The Drums – A Journey of a Lifetime” and a book called “One Look at a Time”.
Despite the dangers of the situation, Simon has raced several times. The Drum even competed during the Whitbread Tour of the World a year later, finishing third. In 2005, Le Bon raced “Drum” again – although by then it had been sold to another owner (Simon lent it).
