Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a Jamaican sprinter and Olympic gold medalist. She is the first Jamaican woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the 100 meters. Fraser-Pryce was born on December 27, 1986 in Waterhouse, Kingston. She was raised by her mother Maxine. She has two brothers, Omar and Andrew. Fraser-Pryce attended Wolmer Girls’ High School and then the University of Technology. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development.

Fraser-Pryce further improved her sprint ability at the Tech University, placing 5th in the 2007 National Championships. Fraser-Pryce rose to fame in 2008 with a historic performance at the Beijing Olympics. She beat Jamaicans Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart to win gold in the women’s 100m. Fraser-Pryce won another gold and two silvers at the 2012 London Olympics. She also dominated the World Championships with 7 golds and 2 silvers.
