Serena Williams is an American professional tennis player. Hailed as one of the greatest players of all time, she is a 22-time Grand Slam singles champion, a 14-time Grand Slam doubles champion and a 4-time Olympic gold medalist. Williams was born on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan to Oracene and Richard. She has four sisters, including tennis superstar Venus Williams. Serena spent her childhood in Compton, California, before moving to West Palm Beach, Florida. She is homeschooled. She later studied fashion design at the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute.

Williams started taking tennis lessons with his father at a very young age. She went on to train at the Rick Macci Tennis Academy in Florida. Williams set an impressive 46-3 USTA junior record in 1991. Four years later, she made her professional debut at the age of 14. Williams won her first Grand Slam title in 1999, beating Martina Hingis of Switzerland. In 2002, she placed first at the US Open, Wimbledon and French Open.
Williams completed her first Serena Slam in 2003 after beating Venus at the Australian Open. She defeated Caroline Wozniacki at the US Open, Maria Sharapova at the Australian Open, Lucy Safarova at the French Open and Garbin Mugu at Wimbledon ruza.
Serena’s autobiography My Life: Queen of the Court was published by Simon & Schuster in 2009. Her film credits include The Hair Show (2004) with Mo’Nique and 7 Days in Hell (2015) with Andy Samberg. She appeared in three episodes of Punk’d (2005-07) and voiced The Simpsons.
