He played college basketball at Brigham Young University in the United States from 1990 to 1991, and was named the McDonald’s All-American MVP at Utah High School in 1990.
The Philadelphia 76ers selected him with the second overall pick in the 1993 NBA draft. The 7-foot-6, 275-pound player played for the Sixers until 1995. He then played with the New Jersey Nets until 1997 before joining the Dallas Mavericks from 1997 to 2005. He led the league in blocks in 1997 and won the Second Team Rookie of the Year Award in 1994.
