Scott Weiland is an American singer, songwriter and Grammy winner. He was born on October 27, 1967 in San Jose, California. He started his first band when he was in high school. In 1987 he went on to form the Mighty Joe Young band, which later morphed into the “Stone Temple Pilots”. The band released their debut album “Core” in 1992. After releasing several albums, the band disbanded in 2003. Weiland then joined the rock band Velvet Revolver, whose debut album Contraband was released in 2004. Since its release, Contraband has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. He left “Velvet Revolver” in 2008 to reunite with “Stone Temple Revolver”. He died of a drug overdose on December 3, 2015.
