Scott Pruitt is an American attorney, Republican politician and Oklahoma’s 17th Attorney General. In 2016, he was made an administrator of the EPA by President Donald Trump. Pruitt was born on May 9, 1968 in Danville, Kentucky. He grew up in Lexington and attended Lafayette High School. He graduated from Georgetown College in 1990 with a BA in Communication and Political Science. Pruitt received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa in 1993. He also completed the bar exam in 1993.

Pruitt practiced law in Tulsa for five years. He specializes in constitutional, insurance and labor law. He also handles contracts as well as litigation and appeals. Pruitt was elected to the Oklahoma Senate in 1998. He held that office from 1999 to 2006. He also served as the Republican Whip (2000-02) and later as Assistant Minority Floor Leader (2002-10). Pruitt in 2004 Became general managing partner of the “Oklahoma Redhawks” minor league baseball team. Under his leadership, the team has seen increased attendance and revenue.

Pruitt ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor of Oklahoma in 2006. He lost the Republican nomination to Todd Hitt. Pruitt was elected Attorney General of Oklahoma in November 2010. He was sworn into office on January 10, 2011. His priorities include fighting corruption, advocating for vulnerable citizens and improving public safety. He was sworn into President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act in 2013 file a lawsuit. In December 2016, Pruitt was nominated to be the next Environmental Protection Agency administrator in the Trump administration.
