ScHoolboy Q is an American rapper, songwriter and member of hip hop supergroup Black Hippy. He is currently signed to Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope Records. His studio albums include Setbacks (2011), Oxymoron (2014) and Blank Face LP (2016). Q was born Quincy Matthew Hanley on October 26, 1986, on a military base in Wiesbaden, Germany. He lived briefly in Texas before settling in Los Angeles, California. Q attended Crenshaw High School, where he played baseball. During college, he played football as a catcher and catcher.

Schoolboy Q started writing his own lyrics as a teenager. However, it wasn’t until the age of 21 that he began to take music seriously. His musical influences include Biggie, 50 Cent, Jay Z and Nas. ScHoolboy Q’s debut studio album Setbacks was released in January 2011 by Top Dawg. It reached number 12 on the top rap albums chart. The album received mostly positive reviews. His second album, Habits and Contradictions, was released the following year. It features ASAP Rocky on the “Hands on the Wheel” track. Other guest artists include Currensy and Jhene Aiko. Q was on the Under The Influence Tour with the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. He also supports ASAP Rocky on his Long. live. Tour as soon as possible in 2012.
Q’s major label debut, Oxymoron, was released in February 2014 by Top Dog and Interscope Records. It has sold over 400,000 copies and is certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album reached number one in the United States and Canada. It was led by Kendrick Lamar, the “Person of the Year” and “Breaking the Bank” single “Kale.” Q’s fourth album, Blank Face LP, was released in July 2016. Vocals by Kanye West, Jadakiss, Vince Staples, SZA and Tha Dogg Pound. The album received two Grammy nominations, including one for Best Rap Album.
