Sarah Huckabee Sanders is an American political consultant and campaign manager. She succeeds Sean Spicer as White House press secretary under President Donald Trump. Sanders was born Sarah Elizabeth Huckabee on August 13, 1982, in Hope, Arkansas. Her father, Mike Huckabee, is the former governor of Arkansas, and her mother, Janet Huckabee, is the former first lady of Arkansas. She has two older brothers, John and David. Sanders attended Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. She continued her education at Ouachita Baptist University. After college, she moved to Washington to accept a job in the Bush administration.

Sanders is a member of the Republican Party. She began her political career in 2002 as a field coordinator during her father’s re-election campaign for governor of Arkansas. Two years later, she ran for re-election in Ohio with President George W. Bush. Sanders is also known for his work at the consulting firm Second Street Strategies. They provide general consultation as well as other services such as polling, research and ad production. Before joining the Trump administration, Sanders was involved in several presidential campaigns. In 2008, she served as Mike Huckabee’s Political Director and in 2012 as Tim Pawlenty’s Senior Advisor. She also briefly served as Vice President of Tsamotales Strategies, a government consulting firm.
Sanders served as a senior adviser to Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. There, she handled campaign communications for the coalition. After Trump’s victory, Sanders was named deputy White House press secretary. She was sworn in on January 20, 2017. Her first White House press conference was on May 5, 2017. Sanders succeeds Sean Spicer as the 31st White House press secretary. She was sworn in on July 26, 2017.
