During his career, he played for several teams, including the Rockets before 1996, the Phoenix Suns in 1996, the Dallas Mavericks from 1996 to 1997, the New Jersey Nets from 1997 to 1999, Milwaukee Bucks from 1999 to 2003, Minnesota Timberwolves from 2003 to 2005, Los Angeles Clippers from 2005 to 2008, and Boston Celtics from 2008. Cassell earned second-team All-NBA honors in 2004 and was named to the NBA All-Star team that same season. He was a member of three NBA championship teams, winning championships with the Rockets in 1994 and 1995 and the Celtics in 2008.
