Brian Daniel Carenard, born June 1, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York, is a former prisoner who charts a path to redemption through hip-hop. Saigon spent his childhood moving from place to place, starting selling marijuana at the age of 11 and soon joining a community gang.
By the time he was 15, he had been involved in several shootings for which he had been jailed. It was in prison that Brian named himself “Saigon” and found peace in rapping with fellow inmate Hakim. The Greatest Story Never Told was finally released in 2011, and its sequel, The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 2: Bread and Circuses, was released a year later.
