Sage Steele is an American sports presenter and television presenter. She is best known for hosting ‘SportsCenter On The Road’ and the weekend edition of ‘NBA Countdown’. Steele was born on November 28, 1972, into a military family in the Panama Canal Zone. Her parents are Mona and Gary Steele. She has two brothers, Courtney and Chad. Steele lived in various states and countries as a child. She attended Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, followed by Carmel High School in Indiana. Steele continued his education at Indiana University Bloomington. She graduated in 1995 with a BA in Sports Communication.
Profession
Steele started out as a producer and reporter for WSBT-TV in South Bend, Indiana. She held this position from 1995 to 1997. She then worked briefly at WISH-TV in Indianapolis before moving to WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida in 1998. Steele was a beat reporter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1998 to 2001. She also covers Super Bowl XXXV for Fox Sports Networks.
Steele made his Comcast SportsNet debut in April 2001. From 2001 to 2007, she was a SportsNite anchor for six years. SportsNite is a nightly sports news show focusing on the Washington DC and Baltimore area. During her tenure, she also worked as a reporter for the Baltimore Ravens.
Steele joined ESPN in 2007. She hosted the network’s flagship news program, SportsCenter, from 2007 to 2013. She now serves as the lead host for SportsCenter on the Road. Steele was the host of the weekend version of NBA Countdown at the start of the 2013-14 NBA regular season. She co-hosted the 2017 Miss America pageant with TV host Chris Harrison.
