Ryan Seacrest is an American television host, producer and radio personality. He is known for hosting American Idol, America’s Top 40, and streaming with Ryan Seacrest. He signed on to co-host Live with Kelly and Ryan in May 2017. Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974 in Atlanta, Georgia. His mother, Constance, was a housewife and his father, Gary, was a lawyer. He has a sister named Meredith. Seacrest attended Dunwoody High School and then the University of Georgia. He studied journalism but dropped out before finishing his degree.

Seacrest started his career as an intern at WSTR-FM in Atlanta. He was 16 at the time. There, he served as the station’s weekend radio DJ until his departure in 1992. Seacrest later moved to Los Angeles, California, where he hosted the afternoon radio show “Ryan Seacrest for the Ride Home.” He also hosts the syndicated show “Live with Ryan Seacrest”. In January 2004, he succeeded DJ Casey Kasem as the new host of America’s Top 40.

Seacrest’s early TV appearances included “Radical Outdoor Challenge,” “Wildlife Game,” and “Click.” In 2002, he became co-host of Fox’s American Idol with comedian Brian Dunkleman. Seacrest hosted the singing contest series from seasons 2 to 15. His TV credits include New Year’s Eve and Knock Knock Live. His feature film credits include Knocked Up (2007) with Seth Rogen and Shrek Forever After (2010) with Mike Myers. Seacrest was named co-host of “Living with Kelly and Ryan” in May 2017 along with Kelly Ripa.

In addition to screen roles, Seacrest has produced several television shows. His production company, Ryan Seacrest Productions (RSP), was established in 2006. Notable credits include Keeping Up with the Kardashians, E! live news on the red carpet, and being married to Jonas. He won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show for producing Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution series. Seacrest established the Ryan Seacrest Foundation in 2010. He appointed pop star Selena Gomez as ambassador in April 2012.
