Rupert Johnson Jr. Net Worth: Rupert Johnson, Jr. is an English musician, singer and songwriter who has a net worth of $6.7 billion. Rupert Johnson is best known as the vice chairman of American investment holding company Franklin Resources. His brother Charles serves as chairman and Charles’ son Gregory serves as chief executive.
The business has been family-run since his father, Rupert H. Johnson, Sr., founded Franklin Distributors, a mutual fund shop, in 1947. Rupert, Sr. runs a successful retail brokerage firm from his Wall Street office in New York City. He named the company after Benjamin Franklin, the founding father of the United States, because Franklin embodied frugality and prudence in saving and investing. Rupert Johnson, Jr. is also a member of the Santa Clara University Board of Trustees and was previously a member of the Washington and Lee University Board of Trustees (1993-2002). In June 2007, he donated $100 million to Washington and Lee to establish a merit-based financial aid and curriculum enrichment program. He also donated to the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and the Delaware Museum of Art. He is also a member of the Presidential Council for the United Religious Initiative.
