Rubin Carter Net Worth: Rubin Carter is an American middleweight boxer who has a net worth of $500,000. Rubin “Hurricane” Carter was born in Clifton, New Jersey, and was held in juvenile detention after he fell into a life of crime as a teenager. He escaped the facility and joined the army.
While stationed in West Germany, he started boxing. After returning to the United States, he returned to his old criminal life and ended up incarcerated for four years. After his release from prison, Rubin began boxing again, eventually earning a ranking as the third best middleweight in the United States in the early 1960s. However, his career began to decline in the mid-1960s. He played 40 games and won 27 of them, 19 of them by knockout. Most widely known, he was arrested and jailed for a triple homicide in New Jersey in which there was absolutely no evidence that he had no evidence and no witnesses identified him. The case was finally dismissed in 1985, 18 years after the original trial. Rubin’s story, first made famous by the Bob Dylan song “Hurricane,” was adapted years later into a film starring Denzel Washington. Rubin Carter passed away on April 20, 2014 at the age of 76.
