Rosie O’Donnell is an American comedian, TV host, actress, celebrity blogger and LGBT activist. She is best known for hosting the daytime talk shows “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” and “The View.” O’Donnell was born Roseann O’Donnell on March 21, 1962, in Commack, New York. Her father, Edward, was an electrical engineer, and her mother, Roseann, was a housewife. She has four siblings, Daniel, Edward, Timothy and Maureen. O’Donnell attended Commack High School, where she was voted Homecoming and Prom Queen. She studied briefly at Dickinson College, then Boston University.

O’Donnell is probably best known for hosting her own variety talk show The Rosie O’Donnell Show on NBC. The show ran for six seasons from June 1996 to May 2002. The show has won five Daytime Emmys for its standout talk show. O’Donnell was the host and later co-host of “The View.” She tried “The Rosie Show” in 2012, but the series had a short lifespan. It was canceled after the first season due to low ratings.
