Rod Temperton Net Worth: Rod Temperton is an English songwriter, record producer and musician who has a net worth of $125 million. Rod Temperton has earned his net worth as a songwriter for many well-known stars such as George Benson, Patty Austin, and Michael Jackson.
He wrote the title track for Jackson’s best-selling album of all time, Thriller. He was born on 15 October 1947 in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England; he attended De Aston School in Market Rasen, where he formed a musical group to compete in school competitions. His first school out of high school was at a frozen food company in Grimsby. In 1974, after responding to a Melody Maker ad, he became a member of the funk/disco band Heatwave created by Johnnie Walker, Jr. Some of the most popular songs include: Too Hot to Handle, Boogie Nights and Always and Forever. Another big selling point for Heatwave was The Groove Line on their 1979 second album, Central Heating. Temperton left Heatwave to write full-time in 1979, but he continued to write songs for the band and moved from Germany to Beverly Hills, California in 1980. He is the co-author of the song “Miss Celie’s Blues” which was included on the soundtrack to the film The Color Purple, for which he was nominated for an Oscar. Tragically, Rod Temperton passed away in October 2016 at the age of 66 after a brief battle with cancer.
