Robin Yount was born in Danville, Illinois in 1955 and was selected with the third overall pick in the 1973 Major League Baseball draft. He made his debut with the Milwaukee Brewers on April 5, 1974.
Yount went on to play for another 20 years, spending every game of his career with the Brewers. He was last seen on October 3, 1993. He finished his career with 0.285 hits, 3,142 hits, 251 home runs and over 1,400 at-bats. Yount was a three-time MLB All-Star (1980, 1982, 1983) and a two-time American League MVP (1982, 1989). He won the Golden Glove in 1982 and three Silver Rods (1980, 1982, 1989). The Brewers retired his number 19. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1999. After retirement, Yount coached the Arizona Diamondbacks before returning to the Brewers in a similar role. He has been married to high school sweetheart Michele since 1979. He is an avid fan of motorcycles and racing. He is a minority shareholder in the UW summer baseball team.
