Early life and career start
Robin Wright was born in Dallas, Texas in 1966. Her mother Gail was a cosmetics salesperson, while her father Freddie worked for a pharmaceutical company. Wright grew up in San Diego, California, where she attended La Jolla High School. Later, she went to Taft High School in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles.
At the age of 14, Wright began her modeling career. A few years later, in the early 1980s, she appeared in two episodes of the soap opera “Yellow Rose”. Subsequently, she played the breakthrough role of Kelly Capwell in the soap opera “Santa Barbara” from 1984 to 1988. Wright starred in episode 538 of the show, and was nominated for multiple daytime Emmys for his youth performance.
Transition to movie
In 1986, Wright switched to feature films and played a role in the “Hollywood Sin Squad”. The following year, she played her groundbreaking film role in the fantasy adventure comedy “The Princess Bride”, in which she and Gary Elvis played Princess Maomao. In the early 2010s, Wright played roles in “The Conspirator”, the Brad Pitt baseball movie “Money Ball”, the drama “The City Wall” and the psychological crime thriller “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” adapted from the best-selling book. In 2013, he starred in the romantic drama “Amour” and played his own version in the live-action/animated mixed drama “Congress”. Subsequent works include “Most Wanted”, “Everest”, “Wonder Woman”, “Blade Runner 2049” and “Zach Schneider’s Justice League”. TV and “House of Cards”
After 17 years of leaving TV, Wright asked her to return to the small screen in the 2005 HBO miniseries “Imperial Falls”. Personal life and philanthropy
In 1986, Wright married actor Dane Witherspoon, who she had met on the “Santa Barbara” set earlier. The two divorced in 1988. The following year, Wright began to meet with actor Sean Penn, who had just divorced from Madonna. Wright and Payne were married in 1991, and they had a daughter, Dylan Francis, and a son, Hopperjack. However, their relationship was intermittent and the divorce was finalized in 2010. In 2012, Wright began dating actor Ben Foster; although they were engaged twice, they never married. Later, in 2018, Wright became engaged to Saint Laurent executive Clément Giraudet.
As an avid philanthropist, Wright is the honorary spokesperson of The Gordie Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people cope with and prevent alcohol-related risks. Wright is also a human rights activist in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has done a lot of publicity for the country’s problems.
